Pider? It's a mixed pear and apple juice fermented together. Perry + Cider = Pider!
Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs.
Newtons Cider and Perry is made at Newton Court Cidery, Newton, near Leominster, by father and son team Tom and Paul Stephens. The organic standard apple trees, some of which are the oldest in the country, produce fruit, which makes fine cider. Many varieties of apples are grown, with lots being unknown because the trees are so ancient. The cider is made using traditional methods and only organic apples grown at Newton are used. Perry is also made in the traditional way using unsprayed perry pears grown in local orchards and gardens.
We sell medium, sweet and dry draught ciders and perries, together with traditional scrumpy draught, all of which you can purchase in one or two litre bottles, demijohns, five gallon poly barrels, or bring your own containers to be filled. We also sell bottled sparkling ciders and perries, medium, sweet and dry in various sizes.
In May 2003 Newtons won the overall champions awards - ‘The Big Apple Award' at the annual competition held at Putley, near Ledbury in May. Entries come from the three counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. We received First Prize for Draught Sweet Cider, and bottled Sparkling Cider. Second prize for Medium Cider and for draught Medium Perry.
