"This gem of a rural pub richly deserves all its awards. It’s welcoming and friendly, warm-hearted and deliciously comforting."
-Adrian Tierney-Jones,Daily Telegraph

"A real treasure – a proper rural pub at the heart of its community."

"Man walks into the Blue Bell Halkyn... and finds it very difficult to leave!"

We've two pieces of news...

First & sadly, we're closing the Post Office service from the Blue Bell Inn. It's been something of an altruistic journey hoping to see it cover it's costs & growing the income but we haven’t managed to do that – only averaging just over £100 per month. The final collections day will be next Wednesday 26th July and banking / card facilities will also cease (we will only be able to take cash payments at the bar).

Secondly, the reason we need to close the Post Office is that we are moving on &, all things considered the PO is actually a drain on the business rather than an asset. So the second bit of news to complete this message is that we will be retiring from the Blue Bell Inn so that we can concentrate on Ness to get her to a state of fitness & where she is better able to manage her life-changing medical conditions.

Thank you for the tremendous support given to us over the years. We wish you well for the future & hope that you will continue to support the Blue Bell Inn & the new team as you have us in the past. Their intention is to continue with all of the events (walking, music, etc) as normal.

Our final day at the Blue Bell Inn will be on Sunday 30th July where we will close at 7pm with the doors being reopened by the new team on Wed 2nd at 5pm.

Steve, Ness & Tom

Built in the mid 1700s at the crossroads of two old coaching routes, the Blue Bell Inn is purportedly named after a local privateer's boat the Blue Bell. Legend has it that he was later caught and hanged for his piracy and is thought to be buried a few hundred yards away in the cemetery next to Halkyn Castle. How to find us.
